In New York, was born the hardest child in the history of the state. A PHOTO
On March 17, media reported the birth of a girl weighing more than 15 pounds (6,8 kg), the largest baby ever born in New York State.
"I knew she was going to be big, but I wasn't expecting a 15-pound baby," the newborn's mom, Joy Buckley of Corning, told WETM. Buckley and her husband Norman last week became parents to baby Harper, whose height was almost 59 cm, writes New York Post.
State officials said the baby is the heaviest the hospital has ever seen. Harper is twice as heavy as the average newborn and weighs as much as a six-month-old baby. She is heavier than the largest baby in Indian history, born three years ago, and heavier than the largest babies in Texas and California.
Representatives from the New York Department of Health, who track data on the weight of newborns, find out whether the baby Buckley is the largest in state history. While the palm is clearly for Harper.
Mom Joy Buckley, who also has an adopted and natural child, is not having an easy time waiting - her daughter is now in the intensive care unit.
“It's definitely difficult,” she said. “But I know she won’t be [in intensive care] forever—she’ll be coming home soon.”
Joy Buckley posted a photo of her newborn daughter on Facebook.
