Which cities in the US most often steal cars and which brands are in danger
Car theft statistics in the United States remained virtually unchanged in 2017 compared to 2016, when the rate increased by 7% and continued for two more years. There were 773 vehicle thefts nationwide last year—139 vehicles for every 237,4 residents.
Where you live matters. Based on data from the National Bureau of Insurance Crimes, 24 / 7 Wall Street has named a city in each state where the probability of a car theft rises, writes USA Today. However, the city with the highest rate of car theft in the state is not necessarily the city with the poorest community or the highest crime rate. On the contrary, most of these cities have lower poverty rates, higher levels of higher education, and higher household incomes than other cities in their respective state.
Car thefts in the United States are often carefully planned by large organized crime groups that conduct large-scale operations and often operate in specific major cities. In addition, certain models and brands of cars are stolen more often than others. And while expensive exotic cars may seem like a more lucrative source of cash, common models such as the Honda Accord, Honda Civic and Chevrolet and Ford pickups are the most commonly stolen in the United States. This is especially true for older cars without modern security systems.
