The resolution on the Holodomor in Ukraine was submitted to the US Congress

A group of members of the House of Representatives of the US Congress from both parties introduced a resolution on the occasion of the 85 anniversary of the famine in Ukraine (the Holodomor) and expressed support for the efforts of this country aimed at becoming "an important strategic partner of the United States." The group included the Co-Chairs of the Ukrainian Congress Congress: Congressman Sander Levin, Andy Harris, Marcy Captur, and Brian Fitzpatrick.

The resolution pays homage to about 7-10 to the millions of Ukrainians who died due to the fault of the totalitarian Stalinist government of the former Soviet Union who organized the deliberate famine in the winter of 1932-1933 in Ukraine in an attempt to break the resistance of the country to communist occupation.

“We must recall the millions of Ukrainians who died as a result of the Holodomor genocide and shed light on the truth. This moment embodies our hopes, our common values ​​and the sense of humanity that binds us, ”the lawmakers said in a statement.

The draft resolution condemns "systematic violations of human rights, including freedom of self-determination and freedom of speech of the Ukrainian people by the Soviet government."

The document says that the US Congress "supports the further efforts of the Ukrainian people to implement democratic principles, establish a market economy and fully respect human rights so that Ukraine can unleash its potential as an important strategic partner of the United States in this region and reflect the will of its people."
