Instead of vaccination: the governor of Kentucky specifically infected children with chickenpox
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin said that he deliberately infected his children with chickenpox instead of being vaccinated, writes Rtvi.
“We found a neighbor who had chickenpox and I went and made sure that all my children got infected,” the governor said in an interview. According to him, the children were “miserable for several days,” but then “turned out to be in order.” Bevin has nine children, four of whom they adopted with his wife.
Despite the availability of an effective vaccine, in the United States and other countries, they continue to hold "chickenpox parties" to infect children with the disease. It works like this: if a child gets sick in the vicinity, the other parents bring their children to play with him. Such parties are organized in honor of other diseases, such as measles.
According to doctors, it is much safer to vaccinate and get a weakened virus than to become infected.
Recall that if you plan to travel outside the US, you may need additional vaccination. Here is a list of what must have when visiting the CIS countries.
Earlier, the US State Department produced recommendations for tourists who intend to go on a trip abroad. A rather extensive list, the authors argue, can help to avoid trouble during the holidays.
