“This is unacceptable!”: In PACE, they are shocked by the behavior of the Russian journalist. VIDEO
The Head of Communications of the Council of Europe said that this has never happened before at the PACE.
The head of communications of the Council of Europe, Daniel Holtgen, considers the behavior of the Russian journalist Olga Skabayeva on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) unacceptable. This Holtgen said in the comments correspondent Ukrinform in Strasbourg.
“This is an unacceptable and unprecedented situation. This has never happened before. All journalists have been reminded of the accreditation rules at the Council of Europe premises,” Holtgen said.
At the same time, he emphasized that this is not the official position of the Council of Europe, but his personal one - as the organization’s communications director.
According to the published video of the incident, Skabayeva tried to interfere with the performance of the first vice-speaker of the Rada Irina Gerashchenko in front of journalists. Skabeeva spoke simultaneously with Gerashchenko, deliberately trying to kill her.
After this, deputy Borislav Bereza pushed aside the Russian film crew. At the same time, he called Skabeeva a “propagandist” and a “whore.”
Earlier, the same journalist tried to break into the live broadcast of Ukrainian journalists in PACE, however was publicly humiliated.
Earlier we wrote that the Ukrainian delegation in the PACE sang anthem in response to questions from Russian journalist Olga Skabeeva. Later, on Channel One, Skabeeva talked about what happened: “People were sweating, their eyes were bloodshot, the words they were saying: death to the enemies, death to Russia, death to you.”
In April, 2014, Russia first deprived of the right to vote, and then the main powers due to the events in Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimea.
After that, Moscow decided for a year not to participate in the assembly, and in the summer of 2017, it also stopped paying membership fees to the Council of Europe.
Now Moscow is seeking changes to the PACE regulations to eliminate such sanctions in the future.
Recall that in September 2018, Ukraine announced termination of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with Russia.
