The case of espionage: the FBI tapped Russian diplomats and a banker

Employees of the US Federal Bureau of Investigations tapped telephone conversations of a Russian citizen, Vnesheconombank deputy representative in New York, Evgenia Buryakova, accused of spying, as well as two other Russians involved in this case.
According to the prosecutor's office of the Southern District of New York, which provided the court with information about the investigative actions taken, among the materials are transcripts of conversations secretly recorded by the US authorities.
The documents contain both detailed transcripts in Russian and English, as well as short excerpts of conversations, including telephone conversations, allegedly conducted by Buryakov, Igor Sporyshev, and Victor the like. The last two are currently outside the United States. Like Buryakov, they were charged by the US authorities with intelligence activities in favor of Russia.
The main part of these records was made in the period from 2010 to 2014 with the help of secret devices, including those hidden in document folders. The US authorities attach particular importance to the lengthy recording made, they claim, on 11 on April 2013.
According to the prosecutor's office, we are talking about a conversation in which Sporyshev and Podobny allegedly called Buryakov “a service employee.” According to the prosecution, this confirms that the Russian was an agent of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation.
The documents also state that at least two FBI officers who worked undercover were in contact with persons involved in the case. The first of them presented himself as an analyst at the New York energy firm and established contact with Sporyshev in April 2012. The second appeared to be a working businessman in Russia and met with Buriakov in July 2014.
The beginning of the trial in this case is scheduled for April 4 of this year. It is not excluded that this date may be postponed, as has already happened before.
Evgeny Buryakov, Vnesheconombank Deputy Representative in New York, was detained on January 26 2015 by FBI officials in the Bronx. how reported by ForumDaily, charges of illegal intelligence activities were brought against him 9 February last year.
Buryakov, in particular, is charged with “working in the United States as an SVR agent under unofficial cover.” The Russian could face up to 15 years in prison. The US authorities brought similar charges in absentia against Sporyshev and Podobnoe.
According to the data cited in the statement of claim, Sporyshev worked until November November 2014 in the trade mission of the Russian Federation in New York, and Similar until September 2013 was an attache of the Russian diplomatic mission to the UN.
